Ausma Hotel
Brand Identity

We developed the brand identity for Ausma Hotel, it was developed around the authentic character of more than 200 year old building in Kuldīga’s UNESCO Old Town. The aim was to create a visual identity that respects the history of original building, expressing it through a contemporary aesthetic. Rather than copying history, visual identity interprets it, allowing the hotel’s heritage to become part of the guest experience.

At the center of the identity are the calm, authenticity, and timeless quality. Typography is minimalistic, print finishes are detailed, natural materials, and a colour palette that references the textures of lime plaster, aged timber, handcrafted architectural details that can be found throughout the building. The historic date of year 1829 is a defining visual element, it symbolises the continuity of the house, its enduring connection to Kuldīga.

The branding was percieved as a cohesive system spanning stationery, guest collateral, gift cards, signage, digital communication, and spatial graphics. Emphasis was placed on materiality and craftsmanship, using embossing, premium papers, and subtle details to create objects that extend the guests experience beyond the physical space.

Inspired by Kuldīga’s quiet atmosphere, history, and human scale, the identity positions Ausma Hotel as a contemporary retreat destination with a strong sense of place. Every design decision reinforces the hotel’s philosophy: that true value is found in authenticity, and a meaningful connection between heritage and modern hospitality.
